Lanarkshire Constabulary Magazines and Lanarkshire Constabulary Centenary Booklet
The Vigilantia Magazine Collection
‘The Vigilantia’ served as the magazine for Lanarkshire Constabulary and forms an important part of the collection curated by the Lanarkshire Police Historical Society (LPHS). Among the notable items are five issues from 1974 and 1975, each featuring a photograph of a significant local landmark on its front cover. The locations showcased include:
- County Buildings, Hamilton (currently the Headquarters of South Lanarkshire Council)
- Bothwell Castle
- Livingstone Memorial, Blantyre
- Dalserf Church
- Low Parks Museum, Hamilton
Lanarkshire Constabulary Centenary Booklet
In addition to ‘The Vigilantia’ magazines, the collection contains a special booklet published in 1957 to commemorate the Centenary of Lanarkshire Constabulary. This booklet features details of the centenary, information on a series of short plays and provides a list of the cast members involved in these performances.
