In order to achieve their aspirations, In January 2017 Police Scotland designed and delivered the 4 day “Introduction to Policing Programme” to encourage people from minority ethnic communities to consider a career in policing. This programme is designed to encourage ethnic minority candidates to consider a career as a police officer with Police Scotland. Candidates will receive mock fitness tests, mock exam under exam conditions, interview and application form guidance. They will receive presentations from various policing specialist departments and will visit the Scottish Police College.
The first successful batch of officers are due to be confirmed in the rank of Constable at a special ceremony at the SPC on Thursday 27 June. This will be a big event which will be attended by approx. 120 guests, senior police officers, hopefully MSP Humza Yousaf along with several media outlets.
Lanarkshire Police Historical Society has been asked to provide a display containing police memorabilia in the ‘Crush Hall’ at the Scottish Police College.
