Charity Rugby Event – Lochinch Sports Ground, Glasgow
We have received a request from a serving Police Scotland officer to provide vintage police vehicles at a charity event.
On Saturday 7th March 2020, a Police Scotland Select XV will take on a Combined Services Barbarians rugby team in Aid of Police Care UK. This match will be played at Scottish Police Sports Facility at Lochinch, Pollok Park, Glasgow.
In May 2019, PC Phil Hedge-Holmes was struck by a vehicle whilst assisting a female who had been involved in a minor road traffic crash. As a result, Phil suffered significant life changing injuries and had to have his leg amputated.
Police Care UK have helped Phil and his family since the incident and this is an opportunity to help raise funds for a fantastic charity.
The Police Scotland team will contain a number of colleagues of Phil and his brother Andy will be leading the Combined Services Barbarians side which comprises current and former members of HM’s Armed Forces.
Kick-off is 2pm and entry to the game is free. There will be refreshments available during the game and volunteers assisting with donation buckets.
After the match, there will be a charity auction at Cartha Rugby Club and everyone is welcome to come and join both teams for some after match hospitality and there will be Guinness Six Nations action on the big screen.
